Ferrari 612 Scaglietti Review

The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is a grand tourer produced by Ferrari since 2004. It is a large two door fastback coupé. The 612 Scaglietti was designed to replace the smaller 456 M; its larger size makes it a true 4 seater with adequate space in the rear seats for adults.
The 612 does not seem very pretty. Ferrari says it was inspired by the one-off Ferrari 375MM of the mid-1950s, commissioned by Roberto Rossellini, the actor, as a present for Ingrid Bergman. There have been cumbersome Ferraris, but this is almost as wide as a Range Rover and not a lot shorter. The good news is this makes the 612 the roomiest Ferrari ever. Travelling four-up is no problem.

Critics are impressed with the Scaglietti’s comfortable front seats, luxurious appointments, and functional cargo space. Fifth Gear writes, “Inside the cabin the true specialness becomes apparent. This is a Ferrari for those who regard lesser Ferraris as being not exclusive enough, and the quality of fit and finish is exemplary — and a clear improvement over the 456.” Still, its backseats receive mixed reviews.

Reviewers praise Ferrari for the amount of power and speed that the ’09 Scaglietti’s visceral powertrain produces. Equipped with a 5.7-liter V12 engine, it generates 540-horsepower at 7,250 rpm and 433.8 pound-feet of torque at 5,250 rpm. While a traditional six-speed manual transmission is standard, an FI automatic gearbox — which allows drivers to choose between manual and automatic modes — is available. Such masterful engineering explains its reported maximum speed of 196+ mph and a 0 to 62 mph acceleration time of just 4.2 seconds.
