Glass Farmhouse by Olson Kundig Architects in Northeast Oregon
This small house is a contemporary glass box that floats above the wheat fields in Northeast Oregon. The house is south facing mountain, adapt well during snowy winters and dry summers. In winter, the orientation takes advantage of passive solar heat gain from winter sun’s low-angled, in the summer, overhangs and roof rack blocks the high summer sun entry. Large, window glass that can be opened from high efficiency to provide cross ventilation cooling, reducing the need for air conditioning homes.
