The project is the addition on the ground and first floor for space and light design. Architects have been sacrificing floorspace to create a dual core height and center of the house is open to natural light filtering into the depths of the interior. The house was designed by Gary Gladwish Architecture, located on Orcas Island in Washington State. The house is situated on a hillside filled with madrone trees, firs, beech, thistle, moss and rocks with beautiful views to the west. The house makes use of several materials: old barn wood, steel to rust, moss and stone. Large sliding doors open the house to go for the broad view, creating a living room in the forest.
