Tellus Nursery School was designed by Tham & Videgård Architects, situated on the border between the urban and a small forest where new housing is being developed. Together with clients and inspire educators’ of Reggio Emilia schools, a new way to organize the interior developed. The result is a rather unorthodox plan, where instead of complete ‘flat’ listing for each group of children, but there is a vast interior plaza where six groups to interact around different activities, play and learn project. The panel facade, made of 50x50mm sawn timber, filter direct sunlight into kindergarten and create a hidden window which highlights the curved exterior and interior space. The building meets the highest standards for environmentally sound construction and long term.
